James Naik joined We Hate Ben during their inaugural season of 2006-07. Naik is defensive-minded central midfielder who can also play on the right of midfield. After impressing early on Naik suffered a serious injury in a match against Punjabi and was out for the season. Unsure about his playing future Naik became player-manager for 2007-08 after the resignation and subsequent move upstairs for Lee Pemberton. Naik proved himself a capable manager during the season after improving the teams fortunes with some excellent acquisitions. After finishing the season in seventh, Naik will continue his rehabilitation and prove his fitness for next season where he hopes to have himself available for selection in the clubs opening match. Naik stepped down as Manager in 2009 after guiding the club to its most successful ever season. Naik then returned as Manager after Alex MacDonald's resignation in February 2010, then stepped down at the end of the 2009-10 season after back to back fourth place finishes and runners-up in the ADL Shield. Naik will remain as a player with the club for one more year and will be hoping to play a part in winning the silverware he craved as manager. Has signed on for one more year.
