The squad so far

After the summer signings I thought I'd take an in depth look at the squad we have so far.

Goalkeepers

In goal we have Disco, Liam and Alex all of which are proper goalkeepers which means we will hopefully never again have to play an outfield player in goal.

Defence

In defence we have a number of players who can play at right-back but no one specialist, even though Rich will argue he is a specialist right-back, I think we're still in need of one. Other than Rich, both Frog and Simon Payne can play there, or if we switch Townsy there. Jason can play there if he sorts out his positioning when he returns in January.

As we only have one left-footer in the team in Jon Nugent, Townsy will probably play there unless we play Rich there or bring Jon back, which I doubt we will.

In central defence we have Jay obviously who hopefully will sort out his drinking problem and Frog who struggled at times but is capable. Mike Jones can play there and possibly bring Harvey back against the top teams cause he was excellent there. I'm trying to bring in another centre-back, should have at least one in before we start the season.

Midfield

On the right-wing we used a few here last year including myself but after watching most games from the sideline I thought Lewis was decent there, as long as he works a bit harder. However I have brought in a winger in Matt Sermon, and Simon Payne can also play here. Rich is another possibility. Also there's Jason when hes back as hes got bags of pace.

On the left-wing we only have one specialist player in Jon but maybe some of the right-wingers or Ross can play there if needed.

In the centre if we want a defensive player there's Jack Thomas who said hes decent there, Alex can also play there. If I'm fit then I might allow myself to play. There's also Jason who was good in this position but needs to curb his attacking instincts a bit. Ben is another possibility if he toughens up and works harder. For a more attacking player any of the above centre-midfielders could play a more attacking role but Ross is probably the best at that.

Forwards

We have only one proper striker in Harvey but Ross was good there in the play-off. Mike said he was a striker primarily but I'll have to watch him play first. I've also been told that Matt Sermon can play there, and Lewis is reasonable. I am still looking for strikers.

So all in all, what do you think?
