The summer so far

After the summer so far I thought it would be a good idea to have a recap on the ins and outs for the new season.

Of the twenty-four players (two goalkeepers, seven defenders, twelve midfielders and three strikers) used last season, three were on-loan. These were midfielder Nemo, striker Ben Griffiths and goalkeeper Steve Whittaker.

A further two players were on short-term contracts, defender Fish and midfielder Lee, leaving the team with only nineteen players.

Of these nineteen, former manager and defender Lee Pemberton resigned, another defender Matt Thompson left to join a Canadian team and to make matters worse, midfielders Alan Doran, Johnny Harman and Gethin Harkin have also left the club. This leaves the club with only fourteen of last years side.

The fourteen players still at the club contains new boss James Naik who is on a part-time playing contract after his knee injury, midfielder Jason Dodsworth won't be available until January while midfielder Mattias Thomas might not be available at all. This leaves only eleven players from the original squad playing full time.

Fortunately, six players have joined the setup with another four close to joining, bringing the squad up to at least seventeen with three more part-timers.

Overall the squad is in a healthy position so far, but more quality is needed.
