Kanes League Two: Colenso Colts 2-6 We Hate Ben

We Hate Ben produced a terrific team performance to beat a somewhat understrength Colenso Colts side that started the first half with ten men. WHB started strongly and took the lead through a nicely struck Hywel Williams free kick. The tackle that gave Williams to chance to score was a bad one and should have led to at least a yellow card. The second goal came quickly too from a neat James Peate finish. Peate had been a menace all afternoon but apart from the goal he was let down by poor finishing. Peate also seemed to struggle with his ankle, and that would have hampered his performance.

After the two goals were scored Colenso hit back with a tap-in from the far post. Poor defending led to the goal and it looked like Colenso might get back into the game. The match however was put to bed by half-time after goals from Paresh Bodalikar and Adam Edgerley saw the SoccerJoos lead Colenso 4-1. The two midfielders performances contributed greatly to the teams victory.

After half-time Bodalikar and substitute Alastair England scored goals that put the final nails in the Colenso coffin, despite them hitting back with a late consolation goal after more poor defending. Manager James Naik was pleased with the manner of the teams victory but also disappointed with the two goals conceded.

After the match Naik said: "It's all well and good scoring six goals but conceding two the way we did will hold us back. There will be tighter games than this and conceding sloppy goals will see us lose those games. Overall however, I am pleased and will expect the same in the Cup match with Aber S.P.O.T.S."

It is also worth noting that of the starting eleven, four players made their debuts and six debutant's also came off the bench.
