League Two: El Diablos 2-0 We Hate Ben

We Hate Ben's fourth defeat on the bounce sees their challenge for fourth now firmly out of their hands. A 2-0 defeat to El Diablos who played most of the match with ten men will be seen as a major disapointment as the SoccerJoos attempted to turn around a 1-0 deficit but just could not find the killer touch.

Despite starting well it wasn't long before Diablos opened the scoring. A badly cleared ball was sent through the defence into a Diablos man who neatly dispatched the finish. We Hate Ben tried to force the issue and it looked as though they might have got their chance when a Diablos player was sent off for threatening behaviour, before a caution was handed out for a bad challenge on Chris Townsend.

The second half saw more controversy when during a corner Iain Giessler was ajudged to have pushed in the area and a penalty was awarded. WHB were right to feel aggrieved but justice was done when the penalty was hit too far to the right and it missed the post. WHB had the ball in the net when Hywel Williams finished off James Peate's headed cross, but it was deemed offside. However, the ball was headed backwards to Williams so the decision must have been incorrect, leaving the forward pair infuriated. El Diablos grabbed a late goal to finish off the contest, a 25-yard strike. WHB changed to a more offensive formation but the damage was done and the match was over.

James Naik looked notebly upset after the match and only had a few words to say: "I am not happy with the performance of some players today and the inabilty to finish off attacks. Although it would be easy to blame the referee for some crucial mistakes that he made, the fact of the matter is that we did not put in the performance of a team who deserve to finish in the top four."
