Webster issues public apology

Vice-captain Chris Webster has today issued a public apology regarding the alleged offences that forced the club to suspend him indefinitely.

Webster, had this to say:

"Firstly I would like to apologize to all the players’ staff and fans of We Hate Ben Football Club, for the damage that these allegations have caused. I still protest my innocence in light of the recent allegations but am more than aware of any involvement I may unintentionally have committed would have damaged team morale and preparation for our next league match. I would like it to be known that I am in full support of the current management team and it was never my intention to cause them any problems or be seen to criticize their methods. They do a fantastic job for the team and after recent weeks we now need togetherness, not people sharpening their knives.

Another apology I would like to issue is to my team-mate David Norbury for recent allegations of any improper relationship with his partner. I am disgusted that these lies have been made public as this has never been the case. David, myself and his partner are all close friends and any notion of misconduct on mine or her part is completed falsified.

Finally I would like to make an appeal to the WHB boss James Naik to uplift my suspension so I that I can play in Wednesday's match. All I want to do is play my football and do well for this club so that we can push on, and put these off-the-field rumours to bed and concentrate on matters on the pitch."

Naik is believed to be considering Webster's apology and it is now likely that he will return to the club.
