Preview: On The Pier vs. We Hate Ben

We Hate Ben take on Kanes' League Two rivals On The Pier on Wednesday evening in the ADL Shield Final. The match will be the most important and highest profile game either side has ever faced. Fourth-placed WHB take on a side who narrowly beat them 1-0 way back in February, and then finished the season one place above in third. On The Pier will be slight favourites due to a better league record and because of the 1-0 win in February.

We Hate Ben will be boosted by the news of returns to fitness from Dave Norbury and Adam Smith who have been missing for the last few matches, but stalwart Jack Thomas has been ruled out because of a knee injury. Mark Healy, Toby Moss, Jose Scott, Nathan Leach and Danny Shaw are out. James Peate and Cei Whitehouse will face late fitness tests but are expected to feature, Scott Thomas, Adee Egbeyemi, Ben Court and manager James Naik are ineligible due to play-off rules.

We Hate Ben finished fourth behind third-placed On The Pier in the league, and have been beaten by them this season. WHB do have experience of this sort of high profile match having been beaten semi-finalists in the same play-off last year and having won the Consolation Cup. On The Pier however did beat Y Geltaidd 6-0 in the semi-final while WHB progressed by default, but with both teams having won their last games, the tie is fairly evenly stacked.
