We Hate Ben to launch campaign for ADL Hall Of Fame nominees

The Aberystwyth Digs League announced earlier in the season of their intention to create a Hall Of Fame to celebrate the careers of past and present managers, captains and players, teams, club or ADL staff and referees. People can be nominated for a variety of reasons such as success, talent or fair play and the ADL have released the set of current nominees including:

Tim Gomm: Prolific goalscorer for El Diablos and Shake N Bake and former ADL Officer
Rob Jenkins: Obi Wan Kenobi player and former ADL Officer
Matt Strangwood: Prolific goalscorer for Sons Of Pitches, former ADL Officer
Geltaidd (2007-08 Squad) League and Championship Winners
Sex Panthers (2009-10 Squad): Treble (League, Championship and Aberystwyth Town Cup) winners, undefeated season
Paul Coyne: former Colenso Colts player and ATFC Lions player/manager
Kristian Jones: Renowned ATFC Lions goalkeeper and current ATFC Lions player/manager
George Woodall:  Former On The Pier player/manager and current Director Of Football and player
James Hunton: Sex Panthers 09/10 Treble winners captain

We Hate Ben would like nominate people for the Hall Of Fame who have represented our club and have  who done great things during their time with WHB or who brought something special to the whole league. This means you can suggest players from other teams or WHB players who did great things at other clubs, as we will be backing some of those nominees already listed above. Since the time of writing, two WHB club legends have been added to this list. They are:

1. Paresh Bodalikar (2008-09): played for Punjabi FC for five years before moving to WHB for the 08/09 season where he played his sixth and final season in the ADL. Consolation Cup Winner 08/09.

2. James Naik (2006-): Founder member of  WHB, five years service as a player, manager and now Director Of Football. Probably first real "Manager" in the ADL, longest serving member of staff (along with Ben Court), Consolation Cup winner and Shield finalist. Probably the first to utilise the Internet successfully and set the current standard - where each team has an Official Facebook page/group and Official website.

We have selected a few people who have been WHB legends who if selected would deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame. If you would like to nominate other players (you can nominate more than one) to be included then you may do so. This list of examples does not include current players or staff (apart from Ben Court, this doesn't mean you cannot nominate current players/staff!).

Examples:

1. Gareth Harvey (2006-08): Founder member. Former WHB captain and one-time record club goalscorer, possibly oldest ever ADL player at 34 years, 30 weeks in his final appearance.
2. Chris Townsend (2006-09): Founder member, played in every WHB match over his three year stay with the club. Consolation Cup winner and one-time appearance record holder.
3. James Peate (2008-10): Record WHB goalscorer, 28 goals in 23 games, Shield finalist and CC winner.
4. Darrell Rees (2008-10): Former WHB captain, most successful captain, Shield finalist and CC winner.
5. Jack Thomas (2007-10): Former player, assistant manager and vice-captain. Shield finalist and CC winner.
6. Ross Pope (2006-09, 2010) Founder member, former vice-captain. Record appearances, third highest goalscorer, Shield finalist.
7. Ben Court (2006-) Founder member, first person to have a club named after him in ADL history.
8. Hywel Williams (2007-09) Great player, second highest goalscorer, CC winner, Shield finalist.

So you can nominate any of these players or anyone else you may like to, just post something on the Facebook page or comment on this post.
