The influential Ross Pope joined the club in 2006-07 and became an key part of the team. Winning various awards that season in a variety of positions in 2007-08 he became a first-choice central midfielder alongside Jack Thomas. Pope is known for scoring goals as well as being a set-piece specialist. He signed a new contract for 2008-09 and will continue to be an integral part of the side. Pope is one of the We Hate Ben and the ADL's better players. Pope left the club after three years in the summer of 2009, only to return in January 2010, picking up where he left off six months previously with some great performances. Pope finally left after his short-term deal ran out in June 2010 after being one of the clubs most consistantly good players during his four years.
