We Hate Ben were like lambs to the slaughter as they met table-topping Y Geltaidd in this 12KO. WHB had three missing from the side that lost to Aber S.P.O.T.S last week including MoM Mike Adams. Some good news was that Lee Pemberton welcomed Jack Henry into the side for his debut. Ross Pope was named as skipper.
Pemberton started with a 4-4-2 but after an injury to Mattais Thomas in the opening exchanges he was forced to bring on Jay Harding, who was struggling with fitness after an injury in Friday's friendly. Pemberton himself played in goal due to the absence of Adams and Ben Court was drafted into the midfield. Gareth Harvey was used as a emergency centre-back due to Harding's injury.
Getlaidd started brightly and won a few corners during opening exchanges. Harvey and Chris Townsend played well in defence before Getlaidd started to take over. Getlaidd took the lead and then couldn't stop scoring until the referee stopped for half-time, where they were 9 goals up. In the second half WHB were just trying to hold on and it became something of damge limitation. WHB had several injuries and with the lack of players it was clear that several were struggling with fitness. WHB conceded several more goals most of which were the fault of defensive frailties and a bad performance by Pemberton.
WHB now have a two-week break and on the basis of the last three performances it is obvious that they need to work on several things before the next fixture against SLK.
3. Pemberton - Made several mistakes and flapped at crosses. Made one good reflex save [3]
2, Dodsworth - Had an excellent first half but faded a little in the second [5]
15. Thomas - Injured early on, made no impact [1]
11. Harvey - Good in centre of defence but struggled a little positionally [6]
8. Townsend - Decent in defence, struggled for fitness and was caught for pace [5]
7. Naik - Tried his best and kept running. Struggled up front [5]
9. Court - Strong tackles but was awful on the ball and made far too many stray passes [4]
4. Pope - Captain tried his hardest to change the game. Sometimes got caught in possession [5]
11. Cross - Moved to fullback after Thomas went off. Looked more comfortable there than on the wing [4]
14. Henry - Struggled in striking role but when moved to midfield was non existant [3]
6. Warren - Struggled in forward role but tried hard in midfield [4]
Substitutes
5. Harding - Obviously unfit but attempted to fill in rather than let his team play with ten players [4]
