Chris Townsend over the moon after record shattered

Chris Townsend yesterday became We Hate Ben's all-time appearance record holder outright after playing in his nineteenth match. Townsend was visibly overcome with emotion after the match and is known to be ecstatic with his achievement, now that it has sunk in.

Townsend had this to say:

"I am thrilled to have played this many games for We Hate Ben. When I realised what I had achieved I started to cry! I'm sure it was my hard work and serious attitude towards training that have led to this many appearances. I hope to add many more appearances and help the club to lifting its first piece of silverware."

Townsend was previously the joint record holder with John Warren.
