We Hate Ben have released fourteen players after their contracts ended this week. Of those fourteen, two are currently in negotiations about new contracts while the other twelve will defiantly be leaving.
Of these players long-serving duo Jack Thomas and Matt Sermon might be the most sorely missed as they have combined playing duties with coaching and managerial roles during the three years they have spent with the club. Sermon and Thomas made over fifty appearances between them during their stint, and they will leave the club after doing a great service.
Ross Pope will leave for the second time after rejoining the club this year. Pope has made a record thirty-two appearances in four years. Another favourite in Ben Court will also leave after four years, after not making any appearances this season. Addie Egbeyemi will leave after failing to make an appearance since February while Scott Thomas failed to play all season and joins him out the door. Defenders Cei Whitehouse and Adam Smith leave after a differing single seasons, while midfielders Jose Scott and Adam Roberts have also left. The other two players to leave are striker Toby Moss and winger Alasdair Baverstock who had a short-term contract.
New manager Matt L'argent has plenty to deal with and has offered new contracts to Chris Webster, Adam Edgerley, Darrell Rees, Danny Shaw, Matt Davies, Dave Turvill, Stuart Fleming, Peter Thomas, Mark Healy, Dave Norbury and Nathan Leach. All of these players are expected to stay with the club. Webster who is assistant manager, will take over the captain's armband after Darrell Rees' shock decision to step down at the end of tuis season. He is still expected to sign a new deal one-year deal however. Edgerley is expected to be named vice-captain and former manager James Naik will sign a playing deal for one-year. Record goalscorer James Peate and creative force Hywel Williams are the two who have been released but are negotiating new deals at present.
