ADL announce new play-off system

The Aberystwyth Digs League have announced the new changes to the play-off system, in order to incorporate teams from each of the three leagues. For each of the three play-offs (Champions Cup, Shield and Plate) and Wooden Spoon, four teams will qualify for each pair of semi-finals. The Consolation Shield contains eight teams who finished fifth or sixth and two best seventh-placed teams. Below shows which teams would qualify for which competition if the season ended now.


CHAMPIONS CUP
The Champions Cup is open for teams who finish first in their division, plus the best second placed team.
(Current league leaders are Inter Yournan (SL), Gwatch (CL) and Premiership Pornstars (PL). Best second-placed side is Sex Panthers (CL)).

THE SHIELD
The Shield is for the two other teams who finish in second place, plus the two best third placed teams.


(Two other second-placed sides are Glengower (SL), Bayer Diamonds (PL). Two best third-placed sides are Phoenix (CL) and Pathetic Athletic (PL)).

THE PLATE
The Plate is open for teams who finish fourth in their division, plus the worst third placed team.
(Current worst third-placed team Arcelona (SL). Three fouth-placed sides are Obi Wan Kenobi Nil (SL), ATFC Lions (CL) and Average Anne (PL)).

THE CONSOLATION CUP
The Consolation Cup is a one day event for teams who finish fifth or sixth in their division, plus the two best seventh placed teams. Teams play in one of two leagues, with the winners of each league playing off for the Consolation Cup. Each match is played with normal Digs rules, but only 15 minutes each way.
Current fifth-placed teams are Beaver (SL), Hammer (CL) and Geltaidd (PL). Current sixth-placed sides are Pandas (SL), Unbelieveble Tekkers (CL) and On The Pier (PL). Best seventh-placed sides are We Hate Ben (SL) and DPR Commodore (CL)).


THE WOODEN SPOON
The Wooden Spoon is open for teams who finish last in their division, plus the worst seventh placed team. The teams who lose in the semi-final will play in the final, with the loser of that receiving the Wooden Spoon.
Current last-placed sides are (Naked Wednesday AUC (SL), Abertina (CL) and Genital Giants (PL). Worst seventh-placed side is Barstuds (CL)).
