Super League: We Hate Ben 1-2 FC Beaver

We Hate Ben slumped to a third loss on the bounce in yet another match where they felt they could have won. The defeat means that WHB will now need to attempt to win their final three games to have any chance at qualification for the play-offs. The first match of the three is against Aberystwyth Town Cup winners and Super League title favourites Sexual Harassment Pandas.

We Hate Ben lined up 4-4-2 with Alexis Koumides in goal while Matt L'argent moved across into central defence to partner captain Chris Webster. Jack Kelly and Jason Dodsworth returned to the full-back positions. James Amos got the nod in central midfield with Matt Davies while Ian Hanmore-Farrugia and Rhys Jones were on the wings while Jay Walker and Ryan Muir started up top. Mark Healy, Ronnie D'sa, Adam Grosvenor and Andrew Rhodes made the bench.

WHB started the match the brighter of the two sides and improved on recent games where they made a poor start to proceedings. Most of action occurred in a midfield battle which continued for most of the game with WHB having the majority of the goalmouth action in the first half. Kelly played through Muir but his first attempt was saved. The Beaver goalkeeper couldn't hold on however and Muir poked in the rebound to put WHB 1-0 up before the break. Beaver's best chance in the first-half was from a corner that saw a goal bound header tipped over the bar by Koumides.

The second half began again with both teams looking to press forward but neither side managed to put that much pressure on their respective goalkeepers. WHB changed Amos for Rhodes as they looked to continue the battle in midfield. Beaver eventually found some rhythm and managed to snatch an equaliser. A Beaver player got onto a ball in the box and hit a shot through a crowd of players which Koumides could do nothing about, and the goal gave Beaver the belief they needed to take the game to WHB. WHB then lost their captain Webster to injury and full-back D'sa had to play central defence, an unfamiliar position for the marauder. WHB did have a good chance to get back in front when a R. Jones cross found its way to Hanmore-Farrugia but he couldn't make clean contact and the chance was not taken. Beaver got a slice of good fortune when the ball wasn't cleared as it trickled inside the box and fell to their player who sliced his effort to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and win them the match. R. Jones had a attempt to equalise in a dying minutes but saw his attempt parried away from danger by the Beaver goalkeeper.

Manager Matt L'argent was unavailable for comment after the match.
