Consolation Cup: We Hate Ben finish runners-up in group stage

We Hate Ben played their final competitive matches of the season when competing for the Consolation Cup today, narrowly missing out on a place in the final. Arcelona were the eventual winners, beating Barstuds on penalties after finishing their game 0-0. WHB again were a little patched up, missing players in defence as Dave Turvill moved from attack to defence.

The first match was against eventual finalists Barstuds, and WHB played well and won 2-1 with goals from Jason Dodsworth and Ryan Muir. The second game was closer and WHB went down to 1-0 to Pathetic Athletic. The final game saw WHB needing a win to finish group winners but couldn't put their chances away against a committed Beaver side, finishing the match 0-0. Nathan Leach made a string of fantastic saves throughout the tournament, Matt Davies being the standout player of the three games but several other players all played their parts but WHB unfortunately fell just short.
