Super League: We Hate Ben 1-1 Obi Wan Kenobi Nil

We Hate Ben ended their league campaign for the season with a very respectable draw against Obi Wan Kenobi Nil, whose point saw them finish in second a gain a place in the ADL Shield. We Hate Ben ended their season in sixth and will now look to the upcoming ADL Consolation Cup for a final chance of silverware.

Again WHB found themselves missing a handful of first team players, forward Dave Turvill putting in an excellent shift at centre-back with Matt L'argent who again led by example. Louis Robertson made his first start playing at left-back, Jason Dodsworth continuing with another solid performance at right-back. Rhys Jones again played on the right-wing, Matt Davies and Andy Rhodes in the middle with the returning Ryan Muir at left-midfield. Dan Johnson again was used up front, partnering Jay Walker.

WHB got off to the worst possible start, when Obi Wan scored within the first few minutes. WHB failed continuously to clear the ball from their own area, and an effort somehow found its way beyond Leach in goal who will be disappointed with his attempted save, but the defence really should have cleared to safety. The rest of the first-half and the majority of the game was extremely scrappy, with Obi Wan having the better chances but brilliant defending from the excellent Dodsworth, L'argent and Turvill managed to keep them at bay for long periods. Walker had a decent effort only to see his shot just creep past the post.

WHB made changes in the second-half with Chris Charnley coming on at left-back for Robertson and James Amos in central midfield for Rhodes. WHB managed to get a fortuitous equaliser when Dave Turvill's long ball forward caused panic in the Obi Wan box. Obi Wan's goalkeeper and Johnson collided, with the keeper catching the ball only to fall onto Johnson and drop the catch, which Johnson poked home. A defender attempted to clear off the line but the referee gave the goal, and after last week's goal line decision against Sexual Harassment Pandas it was probably a fair call. Obi Wan had the better of the final stages with several corners given, but they could not find a way through. Ben Court and Adam Grosvenor were both brought into the fray but the game finished 1-1 and WHB find themselves in the ADL Consolation Cup for the second time in three years.

Manager Matt L'argent was pleased with the effort of the players after the game and will now look to motivate the players for a final time this season, and end the year with a trophy.
