We Hate Ben suffered a devastating loss to a spirited Glengower side after a disappointing second-half which saw them ship four goals. The result puts them bottom of Serie A after two games and puts the play-off picture firmly out of their hands after only two league matches.
We Hate Ben lined up in a new 4-5-1 formation to try and solve some of the problems the side faced in their recent defeat by Bayer Diamonds. The team saw Harry Oliver make his debut in a changed defence, while Henrik Eidi returned to the midfield.
WHB showed glimpses of their quality at times in the first half, but were often liable to periods of attack from Glengower. Glengower took the lead after they broke the offside trap, the onrushing striker being played through for the goal. Tim Dulson couldn't keep this one out, despite another day of making some remarkable saves. WHB did eventually manage a breakthrough which saw them equalise before the end of the half. A throw-in by Rhys Jones was held by Jay Walker, whose neat interplay enabled R. Jones to play cross towards Dan Fellows, smashing a half-volley on his left foot into the goal, despite the Glengower goalkeeper making some contact. At half-time the score was tied 1-1.
The second half saw one substitution at the break with Will McIlhiney tactically replaced by Dan Johnson as the team shifted to 4-4-2. Walker nearly put WHB into the lead with a magnificent curling effort which was just kept out by the Glengower goalkeeper. WHB however, were hit by a sucker punch when Glengower took the lead. Player-manager Chris Webster was struck by hamstring and ankle problems which saw James Amos come on, while Danny Shaw had previously replaced Eidi. The goal visibly deflated the side as they conceded another soon afterwards, and at two goals down with 20 minutes to play the game seemed lost. Stuart Fleming, Louis Robertson and James Naik came on, but made little impact as a fifth Glengower goal turned the match into a rout. The match was the second in a few days, that could have ended so differently.
