We Hate Ben put in an excellent performance against title favourites Pandas and almost came away with an unlikely point. Chris Webster, who was without Tim Dulson, James Phillips and Andy Rhodes to name a few, changed to a 5-4-1 formation in order to put in a strong defensive display. Thomas Svendsen started in goal, while Harry Oliver returned to join Webster and Chris Davies in the middle of defence. Matt Davies continued at right-back, while Danny Shaw replaced Phillips on the left. Alex Muscroft and Dan Fellows returned to the middle of midfield, flanked by captain Rhys Jones and Jordan Watkins. Jay Walker started the game up front, with James Naik returned to the bench, joined by James Amos, Phil Bridgman and Peter Thomas.
WHB spent most of the first-half repelling Pandas who were restricted to shots from range, all of which were easily dealt with by Svendsen if they were on target. When WHB did break, Walker found it difficult but when he did get support from the midfield the side looked more dangerous, but neither team could find an opener in the first-half.
The second-half was much of the same, but Pandas did start to enjoy more opportunities, particularly down their right-flank. They eventually opened the scoring about ten minutes into the half. Bridgman was brought on to try and help out Walker, and R. Jones opened the scoring after breaking down the right. Jones ran and beat the Pandas left-back, before hitting a superb cross-shot which found its way into the corner, putting WHB level. WHB began to gain some momentum and almost took the lead with a Bridgman effort, before Pandas started to retaliate. With ten minutes remaining a cross found the head of the Pandas striker headed past Svendsen, putting them into the lead. WHB were unlucky to go behind and tried to break but were unable to find a second equaliser, but can be proud of their performance going into their last league match with Balls Deep.
