Watkins reveals personal targets

20 year-old forward Jordan Watkins today spoke about the personal targets he has set himself for the upcoming season. Watkins, who scored four goals last campaign also managed to win the club's Manager's Player Of the Year award, something he is immensely proud of. Watkins said "Playing for We Hate Ben is great. The players both now and old are all close and friendly and it is an honour to know you all. Playing for the boys in the yellow and blue is so much more enjoyable than my previous club where I did not enjoy playing football, which felt horrible. Thankfully I saw the light and thanks to Rhys [Jones] I have enjoyed every minute of football I have played. I can’t wait for the new season and to welcome the new faces that will join."

Watkins said that he wishes to "improve on last season and that he is "keen to remain on the left wing or if needed play upfront or in the middle." Watkins also went into some detail about his summer preparations, speaking of how he had "been working on my strength and fitness" and that he feels that doing so "will improve my game". He also said "I feel much fitter now doing so and shall continue throughout the season."

Watkins, who finished last season with the second-most goals, said he "would like to score more goals, but as long as the team does well and we win that is more important. I would like to be seen as a key player so shall work hard and be involved as much as possible" Watkins also said that he feels "confident in scoring more than four" and " continue to try and play well to keep my place in the starting eleven."

Watkins finished by talking about winning his award, and how surprised he was. He said "Well I was not expecting it, after being second in several of the other awards, so it was a surprise and a nice one at that. It meant a lot knowing that Stuart Fleming and Chris Webster thought I was deserving in this award. I shall improve from my first season with WHB though."
